Carrie & Bo... the story of middle America

Ok, so I watch...shoot me. I'd actually give Bo's CD a spin. I will hear Carrie's songs at CVS and WAL MART over the public address for years to come (hell, that's where the money is anyway)

Funny to see how Sweet Home Alabama became a song of unity and celebration in this very PC world. Wanna know who voted for Bush in 2004 America? Bo and Carrie and their parents, friends & family..that's who (take THAT East & West Coasts)

Strange to see Babyface and Kenny G on stage for this song as well

A Cure? ...at least a new treatment

New recently FDA approved treatment for RLS....REQUIP http://www.requip.com/di.html Day one and I feel good. Can't wait for the Sleep Tank (where they watch me sleep) Guess I'll know if I really snore.

Restless Leg Syndrome

I have it and it is no fun. RLS is like having creepy crawlies in your legs all the time, especially at night or when you are NOT moving around. The drugs that help you sleep though it don't cure you, they just knock you out. Then I'm drugged all day (though fairly well rested)I also think it makes me quick tempered. Exercise can hurt or help, no way of knowing. Sometimes a good jog or hour at the gym is great. sometimes it just agitates everything. Iron and hot baths are my next attempt at treatment. I'd like to do this without the pills, but the "cold turkey" factor is scary. 12 hours off the drugs and I feel like I have the flu with a little parkinsons thrown in. I am really going to try to get some help this time, 'cause 6 months of the pills and I'm starting to become immune to them (I've talken and extra 1/2 pill during the day sometimes...not a good sign) http://www.rls.org

Star Wars Did NOT Suck - my trip there DID

8:45 movie at Regal 24 on I-85. I left at 7:10. Low on gas, passed the station but was thinking " the next exit is what, 3 miles down?"....well I made it to the exit ramp before my car ran out of gas. Walked to the BP, bought a $4 can and $2 in gas...walked back. filled up, turned the key... NOTHING. called AAA "we'll see you in about an hour" great :( Went back for more gas, tried it again...nothing. Tow Truck shows up, tried to start the car for about 15 minutes. Tows the car to BP, we fill the car WHILE IT'S ON THE TOW TRUCK..it starts!! OF course i've missed the movie by now. "That'll be $65 please" WHAT??? WE are not AAA, we stopped because you flashed your lights at us (no I did not - I was trying to start the car) Called AAA to arrange them getting me my $65 back, they are mad that the REAL driver got there for nothing (when did he get there? 3 minutes after we left. Had to pay the guys to get my keys back. Spent 15 minutes on hold at AAA customer no-service trying to find someone who could help. need to try on monday.

Now it's 9:30 and I want a drink or many, but as I approach the bar, I decide that I'm not up for conversation and being at a bar alone will bring you just that. So..... I drive up to Movies 400 on exit 14 and get a ticket for the 9:45 showing of REVENGE OF THE SITH.

The movie was excellent. Still not as character driven as the originals, but the dialog was less cheezy than I and II and the plot was very good. Seeing everything come together was incredibly satisfying. Thank you Lucas for not fucking this one up.

Star Wars - Friday - better not suck

George Lucas OWES me an Empire Strikes Back level movie. The last two were crap. Like all things from my youth, I expect way too much. Or just to get the same old feeling. SNL, last Stones CD, Black Crowes Concert, Devils & Dust. But you never know. Sin City Movie, Costello at the Tab, Urge Overkill at The Echo, Green Day's American Idiot... Can't know until I experience it.

5/16 Lux Kings @Willie's - A Review

ahhh, monday gigs.....

Monday nights can go either way at Willies. It's hard to get our friends to come out on a Monday intown. There is no big blues scene, even though this is the top blues club in the south. We rely on luck, a decent mailing list, local friends and hopefully a group from a local hotel in town for a convention. Sometimes we get all 4. This night we got our friends and a few locals, but no dancers. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 (and we've had 5's there)

Monday was also the debut of my new pickups (Fender Lace Sensor) which sound great but were wired wrong, so I had to noodle with my volume knobs all night & was a little distracted by this.

Highlight was a 4 song set with Adam (a mini Stonesouls reunion)

1. Built For Comfort (Willie Dixon)
2. Little Girl (Blues Breakers)
3. I'm So Glad (Cream)
4. I've Got a Feeling (The Beatles)

Crowd went nuts for Black Magic Woman and Cools Me To The Core. We chickened out on the two new covers Sometimes Salvation and Spanish Castle Magic. More rehearsal is needed. There are also 3 new original songs that if the night was crazier, we would have played them, warts & all...hopefully these will all see the light of day soon

My favorite moment was when we played a requested Little Wing and all decided independently to play the Derek & The Dominos version (with the dual vocals) The fact that we even knew the song (I think we've played it once in 3 years) was impressive on it's own.

The next gig will be what this one should have been

Search for Blog Usefulness

I'm starting to get "have you seen my blog" from friends and co-workers. I'm starting to think that I need to either be incredibly entertaining to others or have some purpose, even if it's just personal. Someone sent me a link to a band's website that does a journal after every show. I have no idea if anyone ever reads it, but I wish I had done this over the years...........so

I'm starting this as of today. Kick me in the ass if I don't keep up (I'm talking to YOU Mr. leland-nation reader...if there is one)
